What do single items cost to remove?

Plenty of people just need one or two things gone rather than a full clearance. Single items are charged per item, and some have their own disposal route that affects the price.

One myth worth killing here. Only upholstered seating such as sofas and armchairs falls under POPS rules. A mattress is not a POPS item and a fridge is not a POPS item, so anyone adding a POPS surcharge to your mattress has got it wrong. What makes a quote go up or down?

Three things move the price, and none of them are a mystery.

• Volume. More waste means more van space, so more cost. Clearing as you go is cheaper than one big pile.
• Weight. Heavy waste is priced by the tonne because tipping charges are based on weight, not size.
• Access. A ground floor kerbside collection is quicker than carrying a wardrobe down three flights. We still do the carrying either way, we just need to know so we send enough lads.
