Preparing glass for a safe collection
Broken glass is safest boxed or crated rather than bagged, because a bag tears through and can injure whoever carries it. Large panes and glazing units are fine left where they are, as our crew handles them with cut resistant gloves and proper lifting technique. If there is a lot of loose broken glass, tell us in advance so we bring the right rigid containers to move it without spillage. Please keep it separate from general waste where you can, as clean glass is far easier to recycle. Mirrors and toughened or laminated safety glass are handled a little differently to plain container and window glass, so it helps to mention if that is what you have, and we will still take it, just via the right stream. If you are a bar or venue with recurring glass volumes, we can talk about a regular collection so it never builds up in the yard.
