More seats, more luggage, one fixed fare. Kruze's 6 to 8 seater MPV taxis keep families and groups together across Leeds and West Yorkshire, with room for cases and licensed drivers on call 24/7 for airports, events and everyday journeys.

When a standard car is not big enough, our MPVs carry the whole group in comfort. With 6 to 8 seats and generous luggage space, they are ideal for family airport runs, group nights out and days trips. Book one fixed fare and travel together instead of splitting across two cars.
Fares from £15, £2 per mile on the standard fleet, fixed before you travel.
| Vehicle | Passengers | Luggage | Fare |

| Executive | 3 | 2 cases | saloon fare plus 10% |
| MPV8 | 8 | 8 cases | saloon fare plus 10% |

Apps look cheap until demand spikes. Here is the honest comparison for Leeds.
| Option | Typical cost | The catch |
|---|---|---|
| Ride-hailing app | moves with demand | Surge pricing on Friday nights, airport runs and bad weather, and drivers can cancel |
| Hackney meter | around £2.50 to £3 a mile on the meter | The meter keeps climbing in traffic and roadworks |
| Kruze fixed fare | from £15, then £2 per mile, fixed | None. Agreed before you travel with a DBS-checked driver and no surge, ever |
A fixed fare means the price on the booking is the price at the end, whatever the traffic, the weather or the demand curve is doing. Pre-book once and the car is simply there.

An 8 seater taxi in Leeds carries up to eight passengers plus the driver in one vehicle, on one fixed fare. Through Kruze it costs a flat 10% more than a saloon on the same route, so Leeds to Leeds Bradford Airport is from £18 and Leeds to Manchester Airport is from £97. Eight is also the legal ceiling. A vehicle for hire that seats nine or more passengers is no longer a taxi in law, and that changes who is allowed to supply it.
Kruze Taxi is launching soon in West Yorkshire and is not taking bookings yet. This guide is written to stay useful whoever you travel with, so if your trip is before we go live, it tells you exactly what to ask for.
"8 seater" gets used loosely. Ask for a big taxi and three quite different vehicles can turn up. The difference between them is rarely the seats. It is almost always the luggage.
| Vehicle type | Passengers | What happens to the boot | Good for |
|---|---|---|---|
| Car-based 7 seater, a large family car with a third row | 6, sometimes 7 | With the third row in use there is very little boot left, often room for soft bags rather than a suitcase each | Short local trips and a school run |
| 6 seat MPV | 6 | Space for cases behind the rear seats, but not one large case per person on a full load | Four to six adults with cabin bags |
| 8 seat van-based MPV (MPV8) | 8 | A proper luggage area behind the last row. The Kruze MPV8 fare is set for 8 passengers with 8 cases | Airport runs, whole families and groups with a case each |
Book by luggage, not by head count. Six adults with six large suitcases need the eight seater, not a six seater. Tell whoever you book with how many cases you have and whether anything is oversized, such as a golf bag, skis, a pushchair or a mobility scooter. That one sentence prevents the most common group taxi failure, which is a car that arrives with the right number of seats and nowhere to put the bags.
Every Kruze fare is fixed before you travel, with no meter and no surge. The MPV8 is the saloon fare plus a flat 10%, and the figures below are the same published "from" fares shown on each route page.
| Route | Saloon, 4 passengers | 8 seater, 8 passengers | 8 seater per person, full | Two saloons instead |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Leeds to Leeds Bradford Airport | from £16 | from £18 | about £2.25 | from £32 |
| Harrogate to Leeds Bradford Airport | from £24 | from £26 | about £3.25 | from £48 |
| Leeds to Manchester Airport | from £88 | from £97 | about £12 | from £176 |
| Leeds to London | from £390 | from £429 | about £54 | from £780 |
Airport parking or entry fees are added at cost. Unsocial-hours journeys are charged at a fixed night rate agreed with you before you travel, so for a very early flight ask for that fare rather than assuming the daytime figure applies.
The last column is the one that matters. Once a group reaches five, one eight seater costs less than two saloons on every route above, and everyone arrives at the same time with the bags in the same place. Two cars also means two drivers to coordinate at an airport pickup, which is where groups lose the most time.
We would rather you booked the right vehicle than the biggest one.
This is the answer behind searches for 9, 10, 12 and 16 seater taxis in Leeds, and it is legal rather than commercial. The law that defines a private hire vehicle limits it to a vehicle seating fewer than nine passengers. GOV.UK says a PSV operator licence is needed to run a vehicle for hire or reward "that can carry 9 or more passengers".
| Passengers | What the vehicle is in law | Source |
|---|---|---|
| Up to 8 | A private hire vehicle or taxi, licensed by the local council | Local Government (Miscellaneous Provisions) Act 1976, section 80 |
| 9 or more | A public service vehicle, such as a minibus or coach, which needs a PSV operator licence | GOV.UK, PSV operator licences |
For a group of ten the practical options are two vehicles, for example an eight seater and a saloon travelling together, or a minibus from a company that holds a PSV operator licence. The two vehicle option is often simpler for an airport run, because both cars can be timed to the same flight.
Families are the biggest users of eight seaters, so this is worth knowing before the day. The general rule on GOV.UK is that children use a child car seat until they are 12 years old or 135cm tall, whichever comes first. Taxis and minicabs have an exception: if the driver does not provide a child seat, a child under 3 may travel in the rear without a seat belt, and a child aged 3 or over may travel in the rear wearing an adult belt.
Legal is not the same as ideal, especially on a motorway run to Manchester or London. Kruze fits child seats on request, so give the children's ages when you register or book and the seats are planned in, rather than discovered at the kerb.
How many suitcases fit in an 8 seater taxi? The Kruze MPV8 fare is based on 8 passengers with 8 cases. If some of those are oversized, or you are carrying golf bags, skis or a pushchair as well, say so up front, because a full eight passengers plus bulky extras can need a second car.
Can I book an 8 seater taxi with Kruze right now? Not yet. Kruze Taxi is launching soon, and registering your interest on WhatsApp puts you first in line when bookings open. If you need to travel before then, use a firm licensed by the council for the area and check the vehicle carries its licence plate.
Is an 8 seater more expensive at night? Journeys in unsocial hours are charged at a fixed night rate agreed before you travel. It is never a meter and never surge pricing, and the fare you are quoted is the fare you pay.
What is the difference between an MPV taxi and a minibus? Up to eight passengers is an MPV taxi. Nine or more is a minibus, which in law is a public service vehicle and needs a PSV operator licence, not a taxi licence.
