How this work is priced
Antique and fine art moves are quoted individually once we understand what you have, how far it is travelling and how much the access at each end allows. The figure is agreed in advance and there is no deposit to pay. As a guide, our standard hourly rates start at £75 for a van and driver and £100 for two men and a van, and these help frame a simple single piece move. Delicate, heavy or high value items are always costed to the specific job, since the care they need is what the price is really paying for.
What the crew actually does
We wrap frames in blankets and edge protection, box or crate smaller pieces, and pad every surface that could take a knock in transit. Heavy items such as sideboards, dressers and pianos are moved by hand on straps rather than being dragged across floors. Paintings travel upright and kept apart so nothing rests face down against another surface. Where a piece needs specialist packing materials or a made to measure wrap, we bring them, and we take our time loading so nothing is placed under pressure. Where a very large or heavy item needs a low load height, we bring a van with a tail lift so it is loaded level and steady rather than heaved by hand.
The right van for the job
We use a padded van with plenty of blanket coverage, which lets us secure items firmly without creating pressure points on delicate finishes. For a single large piece a smaller van often keeps it more stable and easier to brace. For a full collection we size up to a Luton so nothing is stacked underneath weight it was never built to carry, and everything travels with room around it.
