How flat removals are priced
A small studio or one bed flat with little furniture can suit a van and driver at £75 for the first hour then £40 for each additional hour. Most flats with a bed, a sofa and a wardrobe are better with two men and a van at £100 for the first hour then £55 for each additional hour, especially where there are stairs to carry down. A one bedroom flat typically starts from £210, and the price is fixed in advance with nothing added on later. Stairs and a lift that turns out to be too small are allowed for in the quote, so slow access never inflates the final bill.
What the crew actually does
We plan the route out of the building before we lift anything, and protect communal stairs, lift doors and corners as we go so you keep on the right side of your building manager. Beds and wardrobes are dismantled so they clear tight doorways and turn on narrow landings, then reassembled at the new flat. Everything is blanket wrapped and strapped, and where a lift is too small or out of service we carry by hand rather than forcing anything in and risking damage. We are used to booking loading bays and timed parking permits where a building requires them, and we plan the carry so the front door is not propped open longer than it needs to be.
The right van for the job
A medium or Luton van suits most flat moves and lets us park as close as the building allows so the carry is short. When you book we will ask about your floor, whether there is a working lift and where we can realistically park, so we bring the right vehicle and set aside the right amount of time rather than being caught out on the day.
