Skip bag collection you fill in your own time
A skip bag, sometimes called a hippo bag, is a clever middle ground between a few bin bags and a full skip. You buy the bag from a builders merchant or DIY shop, keep it folded until you need it, fill it whenever it suits you, and Kruze comes to collect it once it is ready. There is no permit to arrange, no waiting for delivery and collection slots, and no skip sitting on your drive or blocking the road for a week. What collection costs
Skip bag collection starts from £24.99. The exact price depends on the size of the bag and how heavy it is once filled, because a bag packed with rubble and soil weighs far more than one full of light household and garden waste. Very heavy bags may be priced by weight instead, for example £68 for 100kg or £136 for 200kg, since a bag crammed with soil and broken slabs is a very different job from one full of cardboard. Send us a photo of the filled bag and roughly what is in it, and we will confirm the price before we come out, so you know the number in advance with nothing added on at the doorstep.
What you can put in it
A skip bag suits general household and garden waste, wood, cardboard, packaging, old furniture, flat-pack units and small amounts of DIY rubble. It is ideal for a garage tidy-up, a garden clearance or a small bathroom or kitchen rip-out where you want to work at your own pace over a weekend. Some items are banned from skips and bags by the rules, including mattresses, sofas, fridges, batteries, asbestos and chemicals. That does not mean you are stuck with them. We can still take those items, simply as separate pieces collected on the same visit, so nothing gets left behind and you clear everything in one go.
How the waste is handled
More than 85 percent of what we collect is recycled or reused. Once the bag comes back to the depot the contents are sorted, with recyclable material such as wood, metal, cardboard and plastics separated out from the general waste. That is a big improvement on a bag that would otherwise go straight to landfill, and it is all backed by your digital waste transfer note, which is your proof that a licensed carrier took it away. Fridges, mattresses and sofas that we take alongside the bag are routed to the right specialist facility rather than being tipped, so the whole visit is handled correctly.
Booking a collection
When your bag is full, WhatsApp us a photo and your postcode and we will confirm a time. There is no need to be in as long as we can reach the bag, and we will send a photo once it is gone. Book before noon for same-day collection across Leeds, Bradford, Wakefield, Halifax, Huddersfield, Harrogate and Barnsley. Any cheaper like-for-like licensed quote is beaten by 10 percent.
