How probate clearances are priced
Pricing follows the volume we remove, which keeps it fair and easy to understand. A small amount of leftover items starts from £24.99 for a minimum load, a quarter van from £50, a half van from £100 and a full house that fills the van from £200. Where a property is packed with heavy furniture and years of belongings, we can price the job by weight instead, for example £136 for 200kg. Individual large items sit inside these prices too, such as a divan bed from £45, a three-seat sofa at £96 or a two-door wardrobe at £54. Once we have seen photos or done a walk round, we confirm one fixed price for the whole clearance so there are no surprises for the executor.
What we clear and what we set aside
We take furniture, beds, wardrobes, sofas, white goods, carpets, general household clutter, garage, shed and loft contents and garden items. Before anything is loaded we invite the family to point out anything that must be kept, and we work slowly and methodically through the rooms so nothing important is lost by accident. Paperwork, photographs, jewellery and small valuables are always flagged and set aside rather than removed. If items are being donated to specific people or charities, we can work around that as part of the same visit.
How the contents are handled
More than 85 percent of what we collect is recycled or reused, which many families find reassuring at a time like this. Usable furniture and household goods are passed on wherever we can. Upholstered seating such as sofas and armchairs is classed as POPS waste, so it goes to an authorised facility to be incinerated rather than a skip. Mattresses go for specialist recycling that separates the foam, fibres and springs. Fridges and freezers are degassed by a licensed facility under WEEE and F-gas rules. Everything else is sorted for recycling before general disposal.
