What Won’t the Tip Take in Bradford?
Bradford refuses commercial waste of any kind, refuses leftover material from tradespeople working on your home even when you carry it yourself, and refuses residents of other councils entirely. It also sends you elsewhere for gas bottles, fire extinguishers, medication, fireworks, industrial chemicals and solar panels, and it is temporarily refusing fridges and freezers. Kruze picks up what Bradford refuses, across the district and the rest of West Yorkshire, from £24.99, under Waste Carrier Licence CBDU597687. Call or WhatsApp 07436 120271.
What Bradford Council refuses, in full
Bradford’s household waste recycling centre policy is the most explicit refusal list of the seven councils we cover, and it refuses three different things: a type of waste, a type of person, and a list of specific objects.
The type of waste is blunt. “Commercial waste of any kind is not accepted.”
The type of person is the one nobody expects. “Residents of other Local Authorities are not permitted to use HWRCs.” Live a mile the wrong side of the boundary and the answer is no, whatever is in the boot.
Then the objects, each with a named alternative. Refillable fire extinguishers and refillable gas bottles and cylinders go back to the place of purchase. Industrial chemicals and fireworks go to the supplier or a specialist hazardous waste company. Tablets and prescription medication go to a pharmacy. Solar panels go through the PV Cycle Scheme.
And, as in Leeds, fridges and freezers are currently refused because of the national shortage of specialist processing facilities. Checked 1 September 2026.

The catch: The tradesperson clause is aimed at you, not at the tradesperson
Read Bradford’s wording slowly, because the grammar matters. “Leftover waste or material from tradespeople making improvements to your home will not be accepted.”
It does not say the tradesperson may not bring it. It says the waste will not be accepted. The refusal follows the material, not the driver, and Bradford names the trades it means: electricians, joiners, builders, gardeners, plumbers.
So the very common Bradford scenario, where a joiner fits your kitchen, stacks the old units in the garden and says you can run them up to the tip, ends at the gate. The units are trade waste because of where they came from, and they were trade waste before you touched them. The person who was legally supposed to remove them was the joiner, and the cost of doing it properly was supposed to be in the quote.
Bradford is the only council here that refuses you for your postcode
Every council on this list refuses trade waste. Only Bradford also refuses people.
“Residents of other Local Authorities are not permitted to use HWRCs.” That is a residency test, checked at the gate, and it has a real effect on the edges of the district. Live in Wyke, work in Bradford, and the nearest tip to your job is not open to you. Move house across the boundary and your usual site stops being yours on completion day.
It also closes a route people assume exists. You cannot get round a refusal by driving to the next district, because the next district applies the same rule in reverse. Kirklees refuses waste from outside Kirklees, Calderdale asks for proof of Calderdale residency, and North Yorkshire charges people from outside the county unless there is a mutual arrangement. Seven councils, seven closed doors, all pointing at the same answer.
What Kruze takes, and what it does not
The honest framing is that we are the paid route, not the clever route. If Bradford will take it and you live there, take it yourself.
What we do take that Bradford will not: the tradesperson’s leftovers that are refused at the gate, commercial waste from a business, and clearances at properties where the owner lives outside the district. Single items from £24.99, a quarter van load from £50, a full house from £150, a sofa from £54, a fridge or freezer from £60.
What we do not do: take refillable gas bottles or fire extinguishers, which belong back with the supplier who holds the deposit, or medication, which belongs at a pharmacy. We also do not perform licensed asbestos removal. We collect cement bonded asbestos and deliver it to a licensed specialist site with the consignment note the law requires.
Bradford tip or Kruze, honestly
Use Bradford Council when you live in the district, the waste is genuinely your own household waste, and it is not on the list above. Bradford’s sites are free at the point of use and its accepted list is wide. If your car will hold it and Bradford will take it, that is the cheapest answer available and we will say so.
Use a licensed carrier when the waste came out of somebody’s paid work on your house, which is the single most common reason people get turned away here. Or when you need Bowling Back Lane or Keighley specifically and cannot get there. Or when you are clearing a property in Bradford but do not live in Bradford, which the council route simply does not cover.
A worked example. A kitchen rip-out your joiner left in the garden.
Bradford Council: Refused. It is a tradesperson’s leftover material, and Bradford names joiners.
Frequently asked questions
What does Bradford tip not accept?
Commercial waste of any kind, leftover material from tradespeople working on your home, and residents of other councils. Refillable gas bottles, refillable fire extinguishers, industrial chemicals, fireworks, prescription medication and solar panels are all sent elsewhere. Fridges and freezers are refused at the moment.
Can I use a Bradford tip if I live in Leeds?
No. Bradford’s policy says residents of other local authorities are not permitted to use its household waste recycling centres. The rule is applied at the gate and it works in both directions, so a Bradford resident cannot solve the problem in Leeds either.
My plumber left the old radiators. Can I take them to the Bradford tip?
Bradford’s policy refuses leftover waste or material from tradespeople making improvements to your home, and names plumbers specifically. The radiators are trade waste because of where they came from, and that does not change when you load them yourself.
Where do I take a gas bottle in Bradford?
Back to the place of purchase. Bradford refuses refillable gas bottles and cylinders at its recycling centres and tells you to return them to where you bought them, which is normally the supplier who charged the deposit.

What the tip refuses in the other six towns
Bradford’s refusal list is the most explicit of the seven. The other six are all different, and two of them refuse things Bradford takes without comment.
