Leftover soil and spoil from landscaping, digging a new patio or laying foundations is heavy, awkward to shift and cannot simply be tipped in with the general rubbish. Weight-based pricing
Soil is dense, so muck away is charged by weight from £45, which is the honest way to price it. As a guide, 100kg is £68, 200kg is £136, 500kg is £340 and 1000kg is £680. Because a cubic metre of soil can weigh well over a tonne, pricing by weight is far fairer and more accurate than guessing at van space, and it means you are never charged for volume that a dense material was never going to fill. Send a photo of the pile or the filled bags, along with a rough idea of how much came out of the ground, and we will give you a fixed price before we set off, so the number is settled well before the van turns up.
What we take away
We remove topsoil, subsoil, clay, turf, garden spoil and general excavated muck from digs, patios, footings, ponds and landscaping projects. It suits both a one-off garden dig and a run of spoil from a larger groundwork job. If the soil is mixed with some stones, roots or a small amount of rubble that is fine, though a heavily mixed load may be priced differently once we see it. Contaminated ground, and any material carrying Japanese knotweed, is specialist and must be flagged to us in advance, as it is handled under separate rules and cannot go in with clean soil. Telling us up front means we bring the right paperwork and route it to the correct site first time.
How soil is handled
More than 85 percent of what we collect is recycled or reused. Clean soil is a genuinely useful resource rather than waste, so it is taken to sites where it can be screened and reused for landscaping, land restoration and groundworks instead of being buried in landfill. Keeping the soil separate from other rubbish on site makes that reuse far easier and keeps your costs down, so it is always worth setting the spoil aside from any general waste before we arrive. Handled this way, what would have been a heavy disposal problem becomes useful material for another site.
