Quotes for the same single item vary widely across Leeds, so the only reliable way to compare is to get two or three prices for the same job. Kruze starts from £24.99, with a Waste Carrier Licence (CBDU597687) and a waste transfer note on every job. The £20 cash-in-hand guy on Facebook looks like the bargain. He is actually the most expensive option in town. If he fly-tips your sofa and it gets traced back to you, Leeds City Council can issue you a £200 fixed penalty notice, and prosecution can cost far more. The fix takes two minutes. Ask for the collector’s waste carrier licence number, check it on the Environment Agency’s public register, and ask for a waste transfer note. A legit licensed collector will not hesitate. A rogue one will vanish. Cheap and legal can be the same thing. You just have to check.

Why can a local firm quote less than a national brand?

No tricks. Just a leaner business.

The national brands carry costs that you end up paying for. Franchise fees. Call centres. National advertising budgets. Head office salaries. None of that moves your sofa.

Kruze is owner-operated in Leeds. When you message us on WhatsApp, you are talking to the people who turn up. There is no middle layer taking a cut.

Route density helps too. We only cover West Yorkshire. Leeds, Bradford, Halifax, Huddersfield, Wakefield, Harrogate and Barnsley. Our vans do short hops between jobs, not long empty runs across the country. Less fuel and less dead time means lower prices for you.

The third saving is what happens after collection. We sort loads for reuse and recycling before anything goes to disposal. Every kilo we divert from the tip cuts our disposal fees. Charity-bound furniture and recyclable metal cost us less to handle than mixed general waste. We pass that saving on.

That is how “from £24.99” works.

What does rubbish removal cost in Leeds in 2026?

Here is the honest picture, including the options where we do not make a penny.

Prices vary with item size, weight, access and location. A washing machine on a third floor with no lift costs more to collect than a bag of garden waste by the front gate. That is true for everyone in the trade. Anyone quoting one flat price for everything, sight unseen, is guessing. Or planning to add extras later.

How do rogue collectors make cheap quotes?

Simple. They skip the biggest cost in the job.

Legitimate collectors pay to dispose of your waste properly. Tip fees, transfer station charges and landfill tax are real costs on every load. A licensed operator builds them into the quote.

The £20 Facebook guy does not pay them. He takes your cash, drives to a country lane, a lay-by or someone else’s land, and tips the lot. His only costs are fuel and nerve.

Here is the part most people miss. Under your household duty of care, you are responsible for checking that whoever takes your waste is authorised to do so. If your waste is found fly-tipped and traced back to you, Leeds City Council can issue you a £200 fixed penalty notice. The law lets councils in England set that penalty anywhere between £150 and £600, but £200 is the figure Leeds publishes, so treat the £600 you see quoted online as the national ceiling rather than the Leeds rate. Prosecution through the courts can mean a fine with no upper limit. Your name is on the letter, not his.

So the £20 quote is not £20. It is £20 plus a possible £200 penalty, plus the stress. That is the most expensive rubbish removal in Leeds.

How do you check any quote is legit in 2 minutes?

Three steps. No expertise needed.

  1. Ask for the waste carrier licence number. Every legal collector has one. Ours is CBDU597687. If they dodge the question or say they do not need one, walk away.
  2. Check it on the Environment Agency register. Search “Environment Agency waste carrier check” and type the number in. It is free and takes under a minute. The registered name should match the business quoting you.
  3. Ask for a waste transfer note. This is your paperwork trail. It records what was collected, when and by whom. It is your proof that you did your duty of care. Kruze issues one on every single job, even a £24.99 collection.

Bonus check if you have another minute. Look at their Google reviews. Kruze holds a 5.0 rating on Google. Rogue operators tend to have no reviews at all, or a trail of angry ones.

Any honest firm will pass all three checks without blinking. That is the point.

What is Kruze’s price promise?

We think we are the cheapest licensed option in Leeds. We back that with a promise.

Found a cheaper like-for-like quote from another licensed collector? Show us and we will beat it by 10%.

Like-for-like means the same items, the same access, the same service and a valid waste carrier licence. We will not price-match the £20 cash guy, for the reasons above. We will happily beat any genuine licensed competitor.

Send the quote over on WhatsApp to 07436 120271 and we will confirm your price quickly. No forms, no callbacks, no fuss.

When is the council or the tip actually your cheapest option?

Sometimes it is not us. Here is when.

Use the council if you have a small number of standard bulky items, you can get them outside yourself, and you are happy to wait for a slot. Every Leeds household gets one free unwanted items collection per financial year, up to 5 items, booked at leeds.gov.uk. After that it is £30 per collection for up to three more, and households on council tax support get up to four collections a year free. If your free one is still available, free beats £24.99. Take it.

Use the tip if you have a car, a bit of time and items you can lift safely. Leeds household waste recycling centres are free to residents for ordinary household waste. Worth knowing before you load up: DIY waste such as rubble, hardcore, soil, plasterboard, ceramics and tyres is limited to four visits a month per household, and each visit is either two 50 litre bags or one item up to 2m by 0.75m. If the load fits in your boot and your back agrees, go for it.

Use Kruze if you want it gone today or on a day you choose, you cannot lift or move the items, the council will not take what you have, or you simply value your Saturday more than a queue at the tip. We do the lifting, the loading, the sweeping up and the paperwork.

We tell you this because trust is the product. If we point you to a free option today, you will call us for the house clearance next year.

FAQs

Is cheap rubbish removal safe?

Yes, if the collector is licensed. Price and legitimacy are not the same thing. A £24.99 collection from a licensed carrier with a waste transfer note is completely safe. A £20 cash job with no paperwork is a gamble with your name on it. Check the licence, not just the price.

Why are rubbish removal quotes in Leeds so different?

Quotes vary because costs vary. Item size and weight, access, distance, disposal fees and how much can be recycled all change the price. Big brands also add overheads like franchise fees and call centres. Get two or three quotes for the same items and compare like for like.

Do you charge extra for fridges?

Fridges and freezers need special treatment because of the gases inside, so most collectors price them differently to general items. Kruze collects fridges and freezers from £60. Message us a photo on WhatsApp at 07436 120271 and we will confirm your exact price before you commit.

Is same day rubbish removal more expensive?

Not automatically. If our route already passes near you, same day can cost the same as a booked slot. Message us in the morning with a photo of the items and your postcode. We will tell you straight away what we can do and what it costs.
