Rubbish removal is usually priced by how much of the van your waste fills, and at Kruze the steps are simple: a single item or minimum charge from £24.99, a quarter van load from £50, a half van load from £100 and a full van load from £200. The minimum charge covers up to 40kg of waste, roughly six to eight black bin bags. A quarter load suits a small pile, such as a dining table and four chairs. A half load is about a bedroom’s worth of furniture. A full load is a garage, a loft or a small flat. Some things are priced as items instead, such as sofas and fridges. Heavy waste like rubble, soil or tiles is priced by weight, because it fills the van’s weight limit long before it fills the space. Every price includes the lifting, the disposal and a waste transfer note from a licensed carrier, CBDU597687.

How do I work out which load size I have?

Picture the pile pushed together, the way it would sit in the back of a van. Then compare it with the loads above.

A few habits make the estimate better:

  • Count bags honestly. Six to eight full black bags is the minimum charge. Once you are past that, you are into a quarter load.
  • Flat pack shrinks. A wardrobe taken apart takes far less space than one carried whole. If you have time to dismantle, it can drop you a step.
  • Air takes space too. Loose boxes, a bike or a clothes airer all fill more of the van than their weight suggests.
  • Mixed jobs add up. A sofa, a mattress and a dozen bags can be priced as items or as a load. Send the whole lot in one photo and you get one figure.

The easiest way is not to guess at all. Send a photo on WhatsApp and we tell you which step it falls into before we set off.

Which items are priced on their own?

Some items have fixed prices, because they need two people, special handling or a separate disposal route. The common ones:

ItemKruze price
Sofa, 2 seats£72
Sofa, 3 seats£96
Single mattress£45
Double mattress£60
Fridge or freezerfrom £60
Washing machine£45
2-door wardrobe£54
Trampoline£54

Sofas and armchairs are upholstered seating, which has to be kept apart from other waste and sent for destruction under GOV.UK guidance on upholstered domestic seating containing POPs, checked 27/10/2026. Fridges and freezers have to be degassed at a licensed facility. Mattresses are priced per item because the springs will not compact and the foam springs back. When one of these sits in a bigger clear out, we price it within the job and you get one figure.

Garden waste: how much fits?

Garden waste is light for its size, so it is priced by space. Garden waste starts from £24.99 for a few bags. Hedge cuttings and branches bulk out a van quickly, so a big prune is often a quarter or half load. Grass and soil are a different story. Wet grass is heavy, and soil is very heavy.

When does weight pricing apply instead?

A van can only carry so much weight, whatever space is left. Rubble, bricks, soil, tiles, concrete and plasterboard reach that limit while the van still looks half empty. That is why heavy and mixed waste is priced by weight rather than load.

WeightKruze price
50kg£45
100kg£68
200kg£136
500kg£340
1000kg£680

A bathroom strip out is a good example. A bath full of tiles is £108 on our item list, because tiles are dense. A toilet is £24 and a shower tray £54. If you are clearing a garden of soil or a yard of hardcore, our soil and rubble removal cost guide goes through the figures.

Is a van load cheaper than a skip?

For most household jobs, yes. Our flat skip prices start at £242 for a 2-yard skip and £246 for a 4-yard skip, and a skip often needs a permit if it sits on the road. A van load starts at £50 for a quarter, we do the lifting, and nothing stays on your drive. Skips win when you are filling one slowly over several days during a building job. Our skip hire vs man and van guide compares the two in detail.

How can I keep the price down?

Be honest with yourself about the free routes first. Leeds City Council gives every household one free unwanted items collection a year, for up to five items placed outside. Source: Leeds City Council, book an unwanted items collection, checked 27/10/2026. Leeds tips are free for residents with a car. Charities collect saleable furniture.

If you do book a van, these help:

  1. Sort out anything a charity or a neighbour will take before the van comes.
  2. Bag loose rubbish, so it packs tight.
  3. Dismantle flat pack furniture if you can.
  4. Keep heavy rubble separate, so the rest can be priced by space.
  5. Tell us about stairs and parking, so the quote is right first time.

If you would rather watch the van fill and stop when you are done, our wait and load service works that way.

FAQs

How many black bags fit in a quarter van load?

The minimum charge from £24.99 covers up to 40kg, roughly six to eight black bags. A quarter load from £50 is the next step up. Send a photo and we confirm which applies.

What happens if my rubbish turns out bigger than the quote?

We price from your photo, so a clear photo of everything gives a price that holds. If you add more on the day, tell us and we price the extra before it goes on the van.

Why is rubble priced by weight and not by load?

A van reaches its legal weight limit with dense waste long before it is full. Pricing by weight, from £45 for 50kg, keeps light jobs cheap and heavy jobs fair.

Do the load prices include disposal?

Yes. Every Kruze price includes the labour, the disposal costs and a waste transfer note. There is nothing to add on top.
