Removals Prices in Leeds: 2026 House Move Costs
Most removal firms quote a single number and will not tell you how they got there, which makes comparing two quotes almost impossible. Kruze prices by the hour and publishes the rate, so you can check the maths yourself.
The hourly rates

The clock starts when the crew arrives and stops when the last item is in. Part hours are rounded up, so a job that runs four hours and ten minutes is charged as five.

What actually decides the hours
Bedroom count is a rough proxy. These four things move the number far more:
- Stairs and lifts. A third floor Headingley flat with no lift can add two hours over the same contents in a Horsforth semi.
- Parking distance. Every metre between the van and the door is walked dozens of times. On terraced streets in Armley or Beeston this is usually the single biggest factor.
- Whether you are packed. A move where everything is boxed and labelled runs at roughly half the pace of one where the crew is emptying wardrobes.
- Dismantling. Beds, wardrobes and flat pack all need taking apart and rebuilding. We do it, but it is time on the clock.
How to cut an hour or two off
- Be fully packed before the crew arrives, including the kitchen and the loft.
- Empty drawers rather than moving furniture with contents in it. Loaded drawers are a two person lift instead of one.
- Reserve the space outside both doors. In Leeds you can apply to the council for a temporary parking bay suspension, and it often pays for itself.
- Take the bed apart the night before if you are confident putting it back together.
- Move the small fragile things in your own car so the crew is not slowed by them.

Do you need two men or one?
A van and driver at £75 then £40 is the cheaper option, and the driver helps load and unload. But for anything heavy we need a second person present, because our health and safety rules do not allow one person to lift heavy items alone. For a full house move with white goods, sofas and beds, two men is almost always both safer and cheaper overall, because the job finishes in fewer hours.

It is part of the job clock, which is why we confirm the route and the figure before the day.
Can you move me at a weekend?
Yes, seven days a week, at the same rates.
What if the move takes less time than quoted?
You pay for the hours used, rounded up to the next hour.
What is not included, so there are no surprises
Being clear about the edges is more useful than a long list of what is included.
- Packing materials are extra if you want us to supply boxes. Doing your own is free and most people do.
- Disconnecting appliances. We can move a washing machine but we do not plumb it in or out. Disconnect it the night before.
- Dismantling fitted furniture. Free standing wardrobes and beds yes. Anything screwed to the wall or built in is a joiner job.
- Parking fines. If a bay suspension is needed, apply in advance. We cannot legally suspend a bay on your behalf on the day.
- Pets. They travel with you, not in the van.

Booking around completion day
If you are buying and selling, you do not control your own timings, and that is the single most stressful part of a Leeds move. Two things help.
Book the crew for the afternoon rather than first thing, because keys rarely release before midday on completion. And if the chain slips, tell us as early as you can. Moving a booking a day or two is usually possible, especially midweek.
If you genuinely cannot get keys the same day, a part load into storage overnight is cheaper than two full moves. We can hold a load and deliver the next morning.
Busy periods in Leeds

How to compare two removal quotes properly
Put both on the same basis before you decide. Ask each firm four questions: is this an hourly rate or a fixed price, how many people are included, does it cover dismantling and rebuilding, and is goods in transit cover included. A fixed price that excludes dismantling and sends one person is not competing with an hourly rate that includes both, however the headline number looks.
Then ask what happens if the day overruns. An hourly rate tells you exactly what an extra hour costs. A fixed price that quietly becomes negotiable at five oclock tells you nothing until it is too late to do anything about it.
