Rubbish removal in Halifax: the local guide

Many of these homes are narrow-fronted, listed or up a hill with nowhere to park, so carrying a sofa or clearing a house is a real effort on your own. Calderdale Council bulky waste, or a Kruze collection?
We will always be straight with you. Calderdale Council runs a bulky collection at £25 for up to five items, then £5 an item after that, with fridges and freezers charged at £25 each. It is a fair option if you can wait, as collections can take up to 28 working days, and if you can put everything outside yourself, as they will not come indoors and will not take rubble, plasterboard or garden waste.
A Kruze collection starts from £24.99, we come the same day across most of Halifax when you book before noon, we take almost anything including fridges, mattresses and building waste, and we carry it all out from any room. You pay for the space your load fills in the van, and every job comes with a waste transfer note.
Your nearest Halifax tip
If you would rather take it yourself, the main tip is Halifax Household Waste Recycling Centre on Lee Bank, Ovenden Road (HX3 5PN). It is closed on Wednesdays, has a 5ft 11in height barrier that stops most vans, and needs a free resident permit to get in, with a maximum of two per household. Vans and trailers need a separate permit that you can only pick up in person at the Halifax or Todmorden sites, and rubble is capped at two sacks a visit. For a full load it is far quicker to let us take it.
The Halifax jobs we do most

Stay on the right side of the law
Whoever you use, the waste stays your responsibility. Fly-tipping in Calderdale can bring a fine of up to £50,000 or five years in prison, and the council has seized vehicles and used drones and CCTV to catch offenders. The law says your waste must only go to a licensed carrier, so always check the licence and keep the transfer note.
