Scrap metal collection and recycling across West Yorkshire
If you have old metal building up in a garage, yard or garden, Kruze will collect it and make sure it goes for recycling rather than to waste. We take both ferrous metal such as steel and iron and non-ferrous metal such as aluminium, copper, brass and lead. Metal is valuable and endlessly recyclable, so it is worth handling properly rather than letting it rust in a corner or sending it to landfill with the general rubbish. We are a licensed waste carrier registered under CBDU597687, and every collection is covered by a digital waste transfer note.
How scrap metal is priced
Scrap metal is priced honestly by the load, and the figure depends on the type of metal, how much there is and how mixed it is with other materials. Where a load carries good recycling value and is mostly clean metal, the collection may be free. Where the metal is tangled up with general rubbish or needs sorting and carrying out from awkward spots, it is priced to the job. Metal that forms part of a general clearance can also be charged by weight from £45 for 50kg. Send a photo and we will tell you clearly and up front which of these applies, so there are no surprises.
What we collect
We take radiators, copper and steel pipes, cables, old cookers and washing machines, tools, gates and railings, sheet metal, car and bike parts, garden furniture frames, bed frames, wheelbarrows, guttering and general scrap. Our two-person crews carry it all out for you, including heavy items from cellars, sheds, yards and upstairs rooms, so you are not straining to move it yourself. It makes no difference whether it is one big awkward item or a whole yard that needs clearing, we will take the lot in one visit. Fridges, freezers and other electricals contain controlled materials and gases, so they are handled under WEEE rules rather than being treated as plain scrap metal, and we sort those out separately on the day.
How the metal is recycled
Metal is one of the most recyclable materials there is, and more than 85 percent of what we collect is recycled or reused. Scrap is separated into ferrous and non-ferrous grades and sent to a metal recycler, where it is processed and melted down to make new products. That keeps valuable raw material in circulation, cuts the need for fresh mining and keeps it out of the ground. Recycling steel and aluminium uses a fraction of the energy of making them from raw ore, so there is a real environmental gain in doing it properly. Anything still usable, such as good tools or a sound piece of garden furniture, we look to pass on first before it is broken down for scrap.
