Sensitive care home and residential clearances handled with respect
Clearing rooms in a care home, or clearing a resident belongings after a move or a passing, needs to be done calmly and with real respect for staff, families and the other residents living close by. It is rarely just a furniture job. How a clearance is priced
Larger clearances are priced by van space, which keeps it simple when you are emptying a whole room or floor. A quarter van load starts from £50, a half van from £100 and a full van from £200. Individual heavy items can be added at fixed prices where it helps, for example a single mattress at £45, a divan base at £45 or a two door wardrobe at £54. Send photos of the rooms on WhatsApp and we will give the facility a clear, fixed quote before any date is set, so the budget is agreed up front and there is nothing added once the crew is on site.
What we clear
We remove beds and mattresses, chairs and armchairs, wardrobes, chests of drawers, bedside units, hoists that are being retired, general furniture, bedding and the small personal effects that need to go. Upholstered seating such as armchairs and padded chairs is dealt with under the correct route, which we explain below rather than lumping it in with everything else. The two person crew carries every item out of the building, so care staff are never pulled away from looking after residents in order to shift furniture down a corridor.
Upholstered seating and mattresses
Upholstered armchairs and padded chairs are classed as POPS waste, which means they must be incinerated at an authorised facility and cannot go into a skip under any circumstances. Mattresses are handled differently again, going to specialist recycling that separates the foam, fibres and springs, because the springs will not compact in a skip and the foam simply springs back. We manage both routes correctly as part of the job, so a care home never has to worry or account for how a chair or a bed was disposed of.
Booking and paperwork

We can usually work around visiting hours and quiet periods, and same day collection is possible when booked before noon. Every clearance comes with a digital waste transfer note under our Environment Agency licence CBDU597687, and more than 85 percent of what we take away is recycled or reused rather than landfilled. Where a home has several rooms to clear over a few weeks, we can work through them on a schedule that fits your admissions and moves rather than all at once, and the price is agreed for each visit so the budget stays clear throughout.
