Where you have a boiler plus a tank, a cylinder and offcuts of copper pipe all going at once, a heavier collection is priced by weight, for example £45 for 50kg or £68 for 100kg. What we take and what to expect
We collect gas and combi boilers, back boilers, hot water cylinders, cold water storage tanks, expansion tanks, copper pipe and the associated brackets and casings. The unit should already be disconnected by a qualified engineer, because we remove and recycle the old appliance rather than uninstall a live one that is still plumbed or wired in. Our two person crew handles all of the lifting and carrying, including down from lofts, out of tight airing cupboards and up from cellars, so you are not left trying to wrestle a cast iron boiler down a staircase on your own.
How the metal is recycled
Boilers and tanks are mostly steel, copper and brass, which are all valuable and fully recyclable materials. We separate the metals so they go back into the supply chain rather than into a hole in the ground, and this is a big part of how more than 85 percent of everything we collect is recycled or reused. It is far better for that metal to be melted down and turned into something new than buried, and it keeps your disposal genuinely responsible rather than just out of sight.
